Professional Services Firm — Core Web Vitals Recovery and Rank Gain
A professional services firm's site was failing Core Web Vitals and slipping in search. We diagnosed the bottlenecks and rebuilt the front end for speed.
A demonstration of a Core Web Vitals recovery for an established firm whose rankings were slipping as Google leaned harder on page experience. (Representative project — illustrates our performance diagnosis and remediation process.)
The situation
An established professional services firm had a decent-looking site that was quietly failing. Core Web Vitals were in the red — a slow Largest Contentful Paint and visible layout shift as the page loaded. As Google weighted page experience more heavily, the firm’s rankings for its core terms were slipping, and they could not see why.
The approach
We started with diagnosis, not assumptions. Real-world Core Web Vitals data pinpointed the bottlenecks: a massive unoptimized hero image killing LCP, images without dimensions causing layout shift, and a stack of render-blocking scripts. We rebuilt the front end lean — optimized and preloaded the hero, set explicit dimensions on every image to eliminate shift, deferred non-critical JavaScript, and stripped unused code.
The result
Largest Contentful Paint dropped under one second, Cumulative Layout Shift went to zero, and the site scored 98 on performance. With page experience no longer working against them, the firm’s core rankings recovered and stabilized — a reminder that technical health is a ranking factor, not just a nicety.
The takeaway
When rankings slip without an obvious cause, the problem is often under the hood. Core Web Vitals are measurable, fixable, and increasingly decisive — and recovering them can recover the visibility that came with them.
